White-throated Sparrow in Spring Woodland

Zealand, New Brunswick — May 15, 2026

These beautiful wildlife photographs capture a White-throated Sparrow resting among the tangled spring branches of the woodland in Zealand. Known for its striking white throat, yellow markings near the eyes, and crisply striped crown, the White-throated Sparrow is one of the most recognizable songbirds of eastern Canada.

In the first image, the sparrow sits upright on a lichen-covered branch, appearing alert and watchful as fresh spring leaves begin to emerge around it. The natural framing of branches and evergreen boughs creates a quiet woodland atmosphere that reflects the peaceful beauty of New Brunswick’s forests in springtime.

The second photograph captures the bird in a more natural feeding posture, bending downward as it searches for food among the branches. Its warm brown feathers, streaked back, and delicate markings blend beautifully with the surrounding woodland habitat, showing the excellent camouflage this species uses in dense undergrowth.

The White-throated Sparrow is also admired for its clear, whistled song that echoes through northern forests each spring. Together, these photographs showcase both the elegance of the bird and the quiet renewal of nature during the May migration season in rural New Brunswick.
